X Shore has an increasing number of boats in the water with customers and we need to ensure the shortest possible down-time while assuring our customers get a world-class experience. To do this, we’re looking for a passionate engineer with a deep commitment to sustainability and a desire to make a positive impact on the environment.
About the role
We’re looking for someone that is excited by our vision, eager for a challenge, and willing to learn on the job. We pride ourselves on transparency and operate in a lean, high-trust environment that encourages everyone to take ownership of their domain.
You will be a full-time member of our Field Service team and will work from our technical office in Sarasota Florida, with significant travel time as well. Given that we’re a startup, you will be working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment that requires adaptability. That said, here are some responsibilities and qualifications we expect to stay relatively constant for this role.
Core responsibilities
- Maintaining and servicing customer boats in the field as well as our fleet of internal boats in a timely manner
- Contributing to improving service standards, protocols, and processes
- Collaborating with engineering and production teams to implement improvements on boat designs, production methods, or service processes.
- Becoming proficient in assembling, troubleshooting, and disassembling all major boat systems
- You are flexible and willing to travel with short notice, ensuring that customer issues are resolved promptly
- Support with transportation and set up at boat shows
- Technical training with customers, dealers, and internally within X Shore
- Execute sea trials to assist in proper commissioning along with R&D support
Basic Qualifications
- Proficiency in using mechanical and electric hand tools
- Willingness to travel at least 50% on average with short notice
- Experience building and troubleshooting electromechanical systems such as electricmotors, batteries, sensors, electronics, controls, pneumatics, etc.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, electrical schematics, and product data sheets
- Ability to cultivate positive relationships with all external parties while working in the field
- Ability to operate independently and make technical decisions supported by data
- Excellent written and verbal professional communication skills
- Good written skills allowing you to keep record of maintenance and communicate fixes with customers
- Ability to work well under pressure and deal with all types of customers by yourself or in a team setting
Bonus qualifications
- Mechanical or technical degree and or 3+ years working in a mechanical field
- Prior experience in a fast-paced automotive or marine environment
- Experience with electrical diagnosis and mechanical systems
- Experience working with high-voltage EV systems
- Comfortable pushing an intense but sustainable pace
- Enthusiasm for boating and clean energy
